Prosthetic Services
After a five year non-compete I am reopening my private prosthetic practice. Utilizing my 22 years of experience as a prosthetist and amputee I am excited to be able to be back in the business. I have not been idle in the last five years; I published a book entitled “Living with a Below Knee Amputation”, consulted with several prosthetic manufacturing firms and volunteered my talents making prostheses for amputees in Belize.I have been fortunate to be able to rent my old building where my prior business was located in beautiful Washoe Valley, Nevada. It is in the shadow of 10,000 foot Slide Mountain and only twenty minutes from Reno and its international airport. Lake Tahoe is a mere forty minutes away with its incredible skiing, biking and hiking. The facility is spacious and full of light, just the kind of place where I do my best work.
I will see a maximum of 25 clients a year so that I will only work with one person at a time. This allows me to focus on creating the optimal prosthesis for each client without the pressure of an office full of people. As a matter of fact there will be no office or any other staff. Just me. I will be assisted from time to time by some of my former employees but will have no other permanent staff.
The best prosthesis in the world is one that you put on in the morning and then don't think about it until you take it off before you go to bed. If we can accomplish this then you as an amputee are no different from someone who doesn't wear a prosthesis. This may be a high-tech ultra-light state of the art limb or it could be a simple foot with a suspension sleeve. The point is that I am not out to force a lot of technology on anyone but instead will create a prosthesis that you don't have to think about. If you have a life with responsibilities and commitments then the last thing you need to be dealing with is your prosthesis. I have been able to keep up with more of the newest technology then when I was in private practice previously and am happy to create prostheses incorporating the latest advances but only if it improves your style of life.
